An Australian health crisis. How food is grown, produced, prepared, packaged and sold has changed considerably in the last 50 years. We have an abundance of fresh healthy food in Australia and yet we are facing an obesity epidemic, increased diabetes, a prevalence of cancer, autoimmune disease, food intolerances, depression and increased heart disease, especially in women. The industrialisation of our farming and food processing, together with a pre-occupation with reducing fat, has lead to increased sugar and salt being added to many processed foods. This change in our food is contributing to the decline in our health.
